Tex. Occ. Code Section 505.301
Establishment of Specialty Area


(a)

The executive council may establish within the scope of social work practice and this chapter specialty areas of social work for license holders under this chapter who are licensed in good standing if establishment of the specialty areas:

(1)

is necessary to promote the public interest; and

(2)

assists the public in identifying qualified persons in a social work practice specialty.

(b)

The executive council may not authorize a specialty area within the practice of social work unless the executive council sets the minimum qualifications for social work practice with appropriate supervision and examination, as determined by the executive council.

(c)

The executive council may not establish a specialty area of social work or a specialty area identification that conflicts with a state licensing law.
