(a)
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the director may let the Nurses Cottage at the Agnew’s Developmental Center in the City of Santa Clara and units 11 to 15, inclusive, of Building No. 7 at west campus of the center, and Buildings No. 213 and 215 at the Metropolitan State Hospital in the City of Norwalk, with the consent of the affected state agency, pursuant to Section 14670 for emergency shelters or feeding programs for a period of not more than five years to qualified nonprofit organizations.(b)
The Legislature finds and declares that the lease of real property pursuant to this section serves a public purpose.(c)
For purposes of this section, “qualified nonprofit organizations” include only those organizations which can demonstrate the ability to pay liability insurance and other costs of maintaining the leased property incurred in providing services for the homeless.
