(a)
Except as provided in subdivision (b), every patrol member subject to Section 21362, 21362.2, or 21363.1, as applicable, shall be retired on the first day of the calendar month succeeding that in which he or she attains the age of 60 years.
(b)
Subdivision (a) does not apply to a Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol, as specified in Section 2107 of the Vehicle Code, appointed on or after January 1, 2008.
(c)
This section shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2018, and as of that date is repealed, unless a
later enacted statute, that is enacted before January 1, 2018, deletes or extends that date.
