CA Bus & Prof Code Section 2554


Each registrant shall conspicuously and prominently display at each registered location the following consumer information: “Eye doctors are required to provide patients with a copy of their ophthalmic lens prescriptions as follows: Spectacle prescriptions: Release upon completion of exam. Contact lens prescriptions: Release upon completion of exam or upon completion of the fitting process. Patients may take their prescription to any eye doctor or registered dispensing optician to be filled. Optometrists and registered dispensing opticians are regulated by the State Board of Optometry. The State Board of Optometry receives and investigates all consumer complaints involving the practice of optometry and registered dispensing opticians.
