Tex. Ins. Code Section 821.002
Exemptions

This subchapter does not apply to:

(1)

a fraternal benefit society operating under Chapter 885 (Fraternal Benefit Societies);

(2)

a local mutual aid association or local mutual burial association operating under Chapters 886 (Local Mutual Aid Associations), 887 (Provisions Applicable to Certain Mutual Assessment Companies), and 888 (Burial Associations);

(3)

a statewide mutual assessment company or association operating under Chapters 881 (Statewide Mutual Assessment Companies), 887 (Provisions Applicable to Certain Mutual Assessment Companies), or 888 (Burial Associations);

(4)

another association operating under Subchapter C, Chapter 887 (Provisions Applicable to Certain Mutual Assessment Companies);

(5)

a farm mutual insurance company operating under Chapter 911 (Farm Mutual Insurance Companies); or

(6)

a county mutual fire insurance company operating under Chapter 912 (County Mutual Insurance Companies).
